Account Executive – Media Relations
Shearwater is looking for an ambitious and motivated individual with an interest in the fast-moving media environment to join our growing London office.
Shearwater is a strategic advisory firm with an integrated media relations and public affairs offer. We have grown quickly since our launch in 2020 and are now looking for a new colleague to join us on the journey.
Our work spans a wide range of clients in high-profile sectors including Artificial Intelligence, Defence, Space, Competition, Trade and Higher Education. About the role
You will play a key role in delivering communications campaigns across a range of client accounts. The role includes:
- Staying ahead of the news cycle, including flagging political and policy issues in early morning newsletters and news bulletinsย ย
- Continuous consumption and triaging of political news and informationย
- Drafting news releases, web copy and social posts
- Providing excellent first draft opinion pieces and blogs
- Responding to inbound media inquiries and helping to sell-in news stories
- Carrying out research tasks including monitoring reports and briefing notes
- Developing a network of contacts in the media to support your continued progression
- Supporting the day-to-day delivery of client work including meeting agendas, action tracking and attending client meetings
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of sectoral issues and hone your skills as a media relations professional, across traditional print outlets, social channels and podcasts.
The position is full-time and based in our Soho office. The remuneration package on offer will be in line with your experience and will include performance related elements.

Candidate profile
This role is likely to suit an ambitious recent graduate with some prior work experience in journalism, media relations, press office, corporate communications, channel management, podcast production, and related areas. An interest in global affairs, technology and politics is encouraged.
