The European Political Community could anchor Ukraine and other countries in the European world, on “our side” of the divide with Russia
In this article for Politico today, our own Hans Kribbe, writing with Luuk van Middelaar, sets out why the new European Political Community (EPC), convening for the first time in Prague tomorrow (6 October), is a good idea – if conceived in the right manner. The EPC is important as it provides countries such as Ukraine, traditionally wedged in between the EU and Russia, a new European home and a point to more firmly anchor their future to Europe. In addition, the EPC offers a working space for EU and non-EU countries on the continent, like Turkey, Norway, Switzerland and of course the UK to defend common strategic goals and interests.
